Brazil stay calculator: how many days do you have left?

A visitor can stay in Brazil up to 90 days, and the Polícia Federal can extend that to 180 days per migratory year. The migratory year is the 12 months from your first entry, and days abroad pause the count. Add your trips below to see how many days you have used and how many you have left.

The calculator needs JavaScript. To count by hand: add up every day you spent in Brazil, counting the entry and exit days, from your first entry over the following 12 months. Up to 90 is a normal visit; 91 to 180 needs an extension from the Polícia Federal.

How the count works

  • Day one is your entry stamp. The calculator counts both the day you arrive and the day you leave, the safer way to count.
  • Days abroad pause the count. Leaving Brazil does not reset your days. A side trip to Argentina or Peru only stops the clock while you are away.
  • A new year starts with a new first entry. Once 12 months have passed since the first entry of your migratory year, your next entry starts a fresh one.
  • Schengen-area passports use a different count: 90 days in any 180-day period. Pick that rule in the calculator if it applies to you.

When to act

Ask for an extension before your 90th day, not after. The extensions guide explains the form, the fee and what to bring. If you are already past your limit, read about overstay fines before you go to the airport.

Check before you go: the Polícia Federal decides each case and keeps the official count. Use the calculator to plan, then confirm your dates with the Polícia Federal unit where you would apply.

Questions

How many days can a visitor stay in Brazil?
Up to 90 days. The Polícia Federal can extend the stay by up to 90 more, to a total of 180 days per migratory year.
What is a migratory year?
The 12 months from your first entry into Brazil. Days spent outside Brazil pause the count, but the 180-day cap applies to the whole migratory year.
Does leaving Brazil reset my days?
No. Leaving pauses the count. A new migratory year starts only with your first entry after the current one ends.
