Bahia
Bahia beyond Salvador: regional guide to coast and interior
Bahia beyond Salvador is four trips: the Recôncavo (about 100 km away), the Cairu islands, Itacaré (270 km via the ferry) and the Chapada Diamantina uplands.
Bahia holds Salvador, Brazil's first capital, and a long list of places most visitors skip: the Recôncavo's river towns, the car-free islands of Cairu, the surf and cocoa coast around Itacaré and the canyons and caves of Chapada Diamantina. Each guide covers the boats, buses and fees that link them.
